Toroidal Transformer vs EI Transformer

A transformer is a static electrical device that transfers electrical energy between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction. If we say a PCB is “Brain” for a stabilizer then a transformer is considered as “Heart”, meaning that a stabilizer cannot function properly without a transformer maintaining targeted voltage.

The following picture contains two types of transformers: the new toroidal transformer (on the left) and the old EI transformer (on the right). KEBO Company is now using toroidal transformer for the majority of our relay stabilizers. The most obvious advantage is that toroidal transformer has a stronger loading capacity compared to traditional square transformer. Why? Because when the transformer is working it will create an electromagnetic field around it and this field will circulate around the transformer. Having a circular transformer will lower the waste of power.

STARTUPS BUILDING

To visualize this, say you are walking on a path. If the path is round, it is much easier for you to turn around at the corner; if the corner is rectangular type, it will take you more energy to turn around. This phenomenon also applied for toroidal transformer and EI transformer. Toroidal transformer has a higher efficiency and effectiveness than EI transformer due to lower magnetic energy loss.

Over the years, no matter how raw materials increasing rapidly, we only use branded raw materials from qualified local suppliers such as Roshow, and LG to ensure a good quality transformer. A good quality transformer can differ from number of winding coils, thickness of surrounding coils, craft of main metal core, and temperature resistant capability. KEBO’s transformer workshop also offers ODM service for our customers.
